Gemstones and their Effects

We tend to examine a gem for its clarity, color and carat. Add to that another ‘C’: Cure. The healing power of a jewel, and its effect on the body, mind, heart and soul, is painstakingly charted by astrologers, duly acknowledged by gem dealers, and then reinforced by wearers who think them to be a stepping stone to better health, prosperity and happiness. But can wearing a particular jewel heal and cure all your problems?

RUBY

Of carmine red colour, a ruby is the sacred stone of the Burmese, who compare it to a human soul about to enter the precincts of the Buddha. They believe that its color changes gradually—colorless to yellow, green, blue, red when ripe. It also changes color in the presence of poison or with the deteriorated health of the wearer, or when trouble threatens. A ruby influences the wearer very strongly for good or evil and wards off bad dreams. It is associated with divine power, love, dignity, royalty and peace. Do not wear at night or during summer, and avoid constant use as it is very hot. Wear in ring, bracelet or brooch, on the left side. It is recommended for actors, children, teachers, and in matters of love. It is believed to heal eye trouble, meningitis, anemia, fever, digestive disorders, low blood pressure and heart diseases. Ground to powder, it helps in snake bites and bleeding. Substitutes: garnet, sunstone, spinal and agate.

BLUE SAPPHIRE

A variety of corundum, deep azure blue in color, a blue sapphire is a sacred stone for the Hindus and is consecrated to their gods. It is dedicated to Indra, the god of thunder. The Buddhists believe it reconciles man and God. It changes color if the wearer is unfaithful. A blue sapphire prevents fear, and helps overcome depression . It influences financial matters and is associated with prosperity. The stone is very cold and should never be worn alone, but with a red coral or copper ring.

But, be careful: discontinue wearing if it does not suit you; its effect is evident within 24 hours. It should always be worn on the right hand. It is recommended for lovers, bankers, those in finance and speculators. A blue sapphire is believed to cure allergy, cancer, jaundice, hair loss, biliousness, poliomyelitis, anemia, arthritis, old age-related diseases, ulcers, chronic fever, and epilepsy and prevents excessive sweating. Dipped in cold water, it can be used for eye trouble. It can also be used in powdered form or taken orally with honey or garlic juice. Substitutes: blue zircon, amethyst, lapis lazuli, blue garnet and blue spinel.

PEARL

Found in the shell of a pearl oyster, it has a brilliant lustre, with varying tints. It is said that a dark pearl is presided over by Lord Vishnu, one that resembles the moon by Indra, the king of the Hindu pantheon, the yellow pearl by Varuna, the god of wind, and a pearl with the brilliance of Agni, the fire god.

A pearl’s beauty depends on the health of its wearer. An unblemished pearl brings wealth, vitality and a long life, as it protects against enemies and accidents. A pearl is associated with peace, purity, innocence and chastity. It has a soothing effect. It should be worn on the right hand. Cultured pearls have only 25 per cent efficacy. A black-specked pearl is very inauspicious. A pearl is believed to cure myopia, breathing disorders, tuberculosis, menstrual disorders, cerebral thrombosis, indigestion, heart diseases and blood pressure. It can be crushed to powder and dissolved in water or wine. Take orally in case of calcium deficiency (especially recommended for pregnant women). Substitutes: moonstone and white sapphire.

CORAL

The skeleton-like deposit of the coral polyp, composed of calcium secreted from seawater, a coral is also found in white and yellow colors. It changes color as a warning of the ill health of its wearer. A coral protects against evil spirits and averts accidents. It is associated with marital happiness and courage. Should be removed at night. It is recommended for brides. It is believed to cure blood disorders, arthritis, blisters, bronchitis, backaches, chickenpox, color blindness, constipation, cramps, common cold, cataract, ear diseases, diabetes, foot trouble, fever, gallstones, gout, hay fever, hiccoughs, hernia, jaundice, malaria, measles, mumps, piles, toothaches, and prevent miscarriages.

YELLOW SAPPHIRE

Of a light yellow color, an unblemished stone gives the wearer good health, wisdom, wealth and fame. A yellow sapphire is a protection against evil spirits and is associated with peace of mind and friendship. It is especially recommended for girls who want an early marriage. It is believed to cure allergy, anaemia, appendicitis, arthritis, backaches, bladder trouble, cholera, cirrhosis of the liver, diabetes (wear with red coral), eczema, gallstones, ulcers, hernia, influenza, car sickness, sunstroke, tuberculosis and typhoid. Substitutes: yellow quartz and citrine.

CINNAMON STONE

Available in many colors, a cinnamon stone is said to belong to the zircon family. Generally of honey or red color; when colorless, it resembles a diamond. A cinnamon stone protects against enemies and is associated with health and wealth. It is recommended for soldiers. It is believed to cure leprosy and leukaemia.

EMERALD

Of a rich green color, an emerald is a variety of the beryl. It was venerated by the Romans who believed in its overwhelming presence, saying that a serpent becomes blind if it looked at an emerald. It changes color in the presence of false friends or witnesses; it also registers the intensity of love (turning pale when love is waning). An emerald has the power to predict events when placed under the tongue. It protects against evil spirits and has a cooling effect. It is associated with faith, friendship, love, kindness and nature. It is recommended for pregnant women and for travellers as it protects against dangers on land or water. It is to be worn at religious ceremonies. It is believed to cure eye and ear troubles, asthma, hair loss, digestive disorders, hay fever, heart diseases, insomnia, leucoderma, hernia, menstrual disorders, neuralgia, typhoid, and prevent miscarriages. Substitutes: aquamarine, turquoise, peridot, green agate and jade.

CAT’S EYE

A very powerful stone, this is a variety of quartz that belongs to the chrysoberyl family. It has opalescent reflections from within. It has a shining band inside which moves when the stone is turned. A cat’s eye helps the intellect and protects against hurdles and delays. It is said to bring quick results and is associated with energy and stamina. A black dot in the stone can prove fatal for the wearer. It is recommended for pregnant women, and those involved in litigation. It is believed to cure coughs, piles, indigestion, eye ailments and headaches. Substitute: tiger’s eye.

DIAMOND

Usually colorless (though yellow, green, black, brown, rose and blue diamonds are available), a diamond consists of pure carbon. It is said to be of four kinds: Brahmin (colorless, no blemish),Kshatriya (slight red hue), Vaishya (yellow) and Shudra (black). A flawed diamond is considered very unlucky by the Hindus. The stone loses its brilliance with the deteriorating health of its wearer. A diamond helps to improve concentration, promotes spirituality and protects against evil forces. It is associated with wisdom, courage, purity, innocence, repentance, forgiveness and joy. Losing a diamond is considered very unlucky. It should preferably be gifted to the wearer, not purchased. and worn on the left side of the body. It is recommended for those seeking constancy in marriage and for sleepwalkers. It is believed to cure diseases of the bladder and heart, leucoderma and insanity. Its ash can be used for treating tuberculosis, diabetes, anaemia and swellings. Dipped in water and wine, it forms an elixir that treats gout, jaundice and apoplexy. Substitutes: white topaz, zircon, tourmaline and quartz.

Let us take a quick inventory. Number of gems (precious and semi, and this includes some that do not, strictly speaking, fall into the category of stones like, say, a red coral): 84

Number of astrologers(professional and non) practicing gem therapy: Prospering, proliferating…almost as many as the ubiquitous cable television dealer Number of gem sellers: In abundance and growing… Number of people wearing gems: Well, just look around you.

Students, brides, businessmen-wearers of gems have transcended all barriers of age and attitude. Gems are worn for success, health, wealth, early marriage, peace of mind. Men who earlier felt uncomfortable wearing engagement rings or wedding bands are now happily wearing all kinds of stones set in various metals. So are the tough and the timid; the romantic and the realist; the superstitious and the scientific Total: Beyond numbers, calculations and comprehension So what does that mean? A Return to the Stone Age? Not really.

To begin with, wearing a jewel for its therapeutic value is not a new idea. One of the world’s most famous diamonds, the Koh-i-noor, is said to be blessed with special charms. It is believed that the water in which it is placed can cure all diseases. A ruler once refused what could be called a king’s ransom in exchange for the glittering stone because he firmly believed that his and his family’s fortunes were inextricably linked with the gem. The conviction that an occult sympathy exists between a stone and its wearer has percolated down the ages.

Pythagoras found the inner self in the soul of the stone; Theosophical Society founder Helena Blavatsky believed in their inexplicable powers. Cramp rings, made from the king of England’s Good Friday offerings of gold, were worn in the Middle Ages to heal cramps and rheumatism. The Greeks believed that an opal granted prophetic powers to its wearer.

And though its beauty alone makes it a joy forever (who can remain unmoved while looking at the many-splendored Cartier—designed jewels adorning Elizabeth Taylor?), there are many facets to each gem—including the magical and the mystical. Magic, in fact, was the original reason for wearing jewellery. It was felt that spirits, good and evil, could be propitiated with the help of a suitable stone.

As for its mystical attributes—holding your ‘lucky’ stone between finger and thumb, and gazing at it in a quiet meditative state of mind can help in your spiritual development. There is magic, mystery, beauty and spirituality in these stones. And there is more. There is the precious power to heal, to solve problems, to give the wearer the hope of a better life.

Religion and Astrology

“The simple believeth every word; but the prudent man looketh well to his going”

Discussion on religion is often considered highly emotive, for so many people have so many different opinions and are very rarely prepared to listen to those who show signs of disagreement.

And yet psychologists tell us that it is only by communication, heated or otherwise, that we can really begin to understand ourselves, and perhaps learn to have a little more tolerance of another’s beliefs.

Many people suggest that their security and strength is founded on a deep inner faith, rooted perhaps in their religious upbringing, or some major revelation in their life. But it is not something easily explained in logical terms. In fact it is totally unscientific, for it is not based on provable facts, and yet such a “faith” is rarely ridiculed by science.

Where is it? What is it?

The problem of finding answers to questions of faith is so enormous that we don’t really know how to begin to go about it. It is like asking where the wind comes from, or how water originally came to earth. Something must have started it all, and that Power must be Supreme, but to believe or to dismiss without examination is hardly productive to evolution.

God, it seems, has appeared with many different faces. Often they are contradictory, and therefore it would seem that there must be many different “Truths”.

The difficulty humanity seems to have, is in believing that these truths are each part of the One Truth, just like the multi facets that make up a perfect diamond.

In ancient times people found their faith in the stars, yet present day Astrologers are often accused of lack of belief in religious values and, in some cases, have even been mistaken for witches and regarded as extremely dangerous.

Yet many Astrologers, like many scientists, are immensely spiritual, and the subject can be argued as just another piece of the Universal Jigsaw, for it is built on the very simple philosophy, “As above, so below”. It is not meant to take away from religious values, but to enhance them, and those who study it tell us that not only does it aid understanding, but leads us forward into closer study of the meaning of life and, indeed, our spiritual purpose .

If we believe the Word of science that “Man is a mirror of the universe”, and believe the Word of our Holy Books that “God made Man in His own Image”, then it could be argued that by studying the heavens, we may become closer to understanding ourselves, which perhaps could eventually lead to a greater understanding of the Creator.

Someone of real faith can never be threatened by another’s beliefs, for they would be secure in their own, and in a number of religions, past and present, astrology has been looked upon as a necessary tool to enhance our spiritual growth.

All of us approach life in different ways. We are all unique, but the same in our curiosity and unwavering search for the truth. Some accept things on blind faith, and others don’t but, in this age of progress, it may be worth examining each opinion more closely before dismissal?

The Story of Diamond Jewelry

The diamond wedding ring set is a fairly recent phenomenon; up until about sixty years ago, most married couples wore simple gold bands. Today, the diamond wedding ring set is fairly common. There are even diamond wedding bands for those who prefer these to diamond wedding rings that have a set stone in them.

The Story of Diamond Jewelry

Diamond jewelry has been enjoyed and desired for centuries. However, it wasn’t until about 500 years ago that the art and science of diamond cutting was born. Most of the stones that find their way into diamond wedding rings are cut and appraised in the Belgian city of Antwerp, which has been the center of the diamond business since the mid-1500s. The DeBeers Company – formed in the 1880s by Sir Cecil Rhodes, for whom the African colony was Rhodesia (now independent Zimbabwe and Zambia) was named – was instrumental in creating an artificial market for diamond jewelry, particularly diamond wedding ring sets, where none had existed previously. It is true that Archduke Maximilian I of Austria presented his bride, Marie of Burgundy with a diamond wedding ring on the occasion of their wedding in 1477, but that did not set a general precedent. That precedent had to wait another 423 years.

“Diamonds Are Forever”

The phrase “a diamond is forever,” became the basis not only of a James Bond novel by Ian Fleming and the movie and hit song that came out of it, but of the most brilliant advertising campaign of all time. The DeBeers Company used this phrase to convince the public to abandon the plain gold bands that had been traditional for married couples for centuries, and embrace their line on fashion-designed diamond wedding ring sets.

The campaign was remarkably successful; within only a few years, plain gold bands had been replaced by diamond wedding bands and rings with set stones. A similar campaign was undertaken by the many other diamond jewelry industry; the market was targeted toward those couples planning to wed. The idea was to convince the public of an “old tradition” in which men wore diamond engagement rings as well as their fiancees. This particular campaign was rather less successful, but it did help to increase the popularity of diamond wedding rings among most of the marrying couples.

SOME COMMON FAQ’S IN PALMISTRY

Which Hand Should You Read?

One of the first questions people ask concerning palm reading is: Which hand do you look at? The answer is: Both and It depends.

Students of distinguish between the active and passive hand. A right-handed person’s active hand will be his or her right hand; and the left hand is considered the passive hand. Similarly, a left-handed person’s active hand is the left hand; and his or her passive hand is the right hand.

Generally, the passive hand is read for inherited characteristics and potential.

Look to the active hand for changes to these inherited traits.

As a general rule, when the lines and markings on the active and passive hands are quite different, it shows a person who has

actively worked toward self-development.

the size of hand

The Size of the Hand

Remember to consider the size of the hand relative to the size of the body.

Generally, a large hand suggests a person who spends more time thinking than acting. A person with a relatively small hand is thought to be more active, spending less time thinking about what to do.

The Shape of the Hand

There are four general shapes of the hand, and these are related to the four elements of Air, Earth, Fire, and Water:

When considering the length of the palm:

When the vertical and horizontal measurements of the palm are approximately equal, it is considered a square palm.

long palm is when its vertical measurement is longer than the horizontal measurement.

Fingers are considered long when the length of the middle finger is equal to or greater than three-quarters of the length (height) of the palm.

Fingers are considered short when the length of the middle finger is less than three-quarters of the length of the palm.

Air Hands are characterized by a square palm, long fingers, and thin, clear lines. These are the hands of intellectual and sociable people. They are often restless and in need of change and stimulation, mostly of the mental kind. As lovers, these people look for mental rapport above all else.

Earth Hands are characterized by a square palm, short fingers, strong or thick skin, and deep, clear, and straight lines. These are the hands of practical, down-to-earth people with strong vitality. They often have a strong connection to nature and the outdoors. As lovers, they are generally quite dependable and straightforward.

Fire Hands are characterized by long palms, short fingers, plentiful and prominent lines, and firm, warm skin. These are the hands of risk-takers and action-oriented people. As lovers, they are positive and confident, willing to take the lead.

Water Hands are characterized by long palms, long fingers, plenty of fine lines that are not always clear, and soft, damp skin. These hands indicate a creative, emotional person. As lovers, they are sensitive, vulnerable, a little naive, and focused on caring and being cared for.

The Thumb

How flexible is the thumb? The flexibility of the thumb is thought to measure how adaptable a person is. The more flexible the thumb, the more easy-going the character is. A lack of flexibility suggests an obstinate person.

Does the thumb have a “waist”? If the thumb narrows in the base phalange of the thumb, the person is thought to employ tact and diplomacy in his or her relations with others.

Some consider the relative length of the thumb as an indicator of faithfulness. Longer thumbs are thought to indicate stronger characters who are faithful to others and to themselves.

The Lines on the Palm

The palm generally consists of the Major Lines, Secondary Lines, and Minor Lines.

A palm with numerous fine lines in addition to the Major Lines indicates a rather complex, sensitive personality that is especially vulnerable to outside influences and worries. In general, the fewer the lines, the more straightforward a person is. These people live their lives in a more direct and simple manner.

The Major Lines:

Generally, there are three prominent lines on a palm. These are the Major Lines.

In the palm at right, the top horizontal line ending at point A is the Heart Line. This line indicates the affections, so it is of particular interest to those reading a palm for love indicators. The higher this line is, the more passionate, and oftentimes jealous the person is. A heart line that goes right across the hand suggests a person who is very controlled emotionally. A heart line that curves upward towards the Jupiter finger (the index finger) indicates a warm-hearted, reasonable, and affectionate nature in relationships. Crosses and breaks on the Heart line suggest periods of sadness and sorrow in love.

The middle horizontal line at point B is the Head Line. This line indicates the type of intelligence a person possesses. The space between the beginning of the Head Line and the beginning of the Life Line, if any, indicates the level of cautiousness a person possesses. When these lines are joined at the beginning, the person has a rather cautious, and sometimes fearful, nature. The further apart, the more confident, risk-taking individual.

The curved line that generally swoops from near the base of the palm to the point between the thumb and first finger at point C is the Life Line. In terms of relationships, a Life line that is wide, leaving plenty of room for the Mount of Venus, is indicative of a person with an expansive and giving nature in love. The closer the Life line is to the thumb, the less generous a person is with his/her energy and time.

An interesting secondary line concerning relationships is called the Line of Attachment. Some call these lines Marriage Lines. These lines appear just above the heart line (in our diagram, just above point A). Light, fine horizontal lines found here are thought to indicate affairs that are not deep commitments. One long, clear line suggests a long-standing and happy marriage or commitment. When there is more than one long, deep line, the lower one is thought to describe the earlier relationship in the person’s life.

The Mounts

There are a number of mounts in different positions of the palm, and these are associated with planets. The Mount of Venus is of particular interest to those looking for indicators of love in the palm. This mount is found beside the thumb and within the curved Life Line. Generally, fleshiness here indicates a love of pleasure. A fleshy and firm Mount of Venus indicates a strongly sexual nature, and a flabby mount here shows a low level of sexual vitality.

Prominent horizontal lines on the Mount of Venus are thought to indicate a person with powerful charm over lovers. Plenty of fine lines going in different directions on this mount (often looking like a grid) suggests a person who is quite complex in the area of love. A changeable, worrisome character may frustrate lovers. In general, lots of fine lines here indicate a person who is easily influenced by outside forces. This person may be easy to dupe by partners. A triangle on this mount is thought to indicate a person who may have extramarital affairs, and a crescent shape (moon) here suggests one who has powerful seductive powers.

Vedic Astrology and History

In 1st Century BC there was a great astronomer and astrologer named Vaharamihira who wrote one of the classical texts Brihat Jataka. He was the King’s astrologer, one of the gems in the court of King Vikramaditya. A son was born to the King and the astrologer was summoned to cast a chart for the boy. The King wanted to know the future of this child. Vaharamihira took several days to read the chart and returned to the King with the news.

He told the King the child was going to be killed at the age of 7 years, 7 months, 7 days and 7 hours in the evening by a boar. The King made the greatest efforts to try to stop this destiny but death is not an easy thing to be stopped since it is born with the body. How we are going to die is a part of the fixed karmas of life.

In his effort to overcome this predication of the astrologer the King built a seven floor palace for the child to grow. The child lived on the seventh floor and was given all kinds of education and training. There was a guard placed on every floor to assure that nothing could enter the palace to harm the boy. When the 7th year, 7th month and 7th day came the astrologer alerted the King that they now needed to be more careful – today is the day. Every hour of the day, a palace guard was sent to report the condition of the child to the King. Each hour they reported him to be in fine condition. So, when the 7th hour came the guard came and said that everything was okay with the child.

But Vaharamihira was not satisfied. He suggested to the king to go and check on the child personally. They went to the palace and spoke to each guard and each floor reported no problems and no disturbances. On the 7th floor when they asked the guard of the child’s whereabouts they said he was standing on the terrace and that he was fine. When the King and Vaharamihira reached the terrace they found the child lying dead on the floor. When the child was looking up at the sky on the terrace, he was struck by an iron sculpture of a boar. This boar had been an art object placed on a pillar on the terrace as part of the palace’s architectural design.

Here is another story from the late 18th Century. There was a powerful King in Karnataka State called Tippu Sultan who was a benevolent King. He wanted to conquer Cochin in the Kerala State so he created an army and marched. When he stopped in a village on the way he sent his scouts to find out about the area. One scout reported that he found out there was a great astrologer nearby so the King called for the astrologer. Tippu Sultan was very well known historical figure at the time in this area. The astrologer came the following day to see the King.

The King said to him “I am told you are a great astrologer, I have a question for you.” The astrologer said “Great King, ask me whatever you like, if I am capable I will answer the question.” The King was holding a parrot in his left hand and he asked the astrologer “what do you think is the longevity of the parrot in my hand – how long will it live.” Of course, no one can answer this question. If the astrologer said it would have a long life the King could kill it immediately, if he said it would have a short life he could let it go into the sky. Either way the astrologer was in trouble. But the science of Vedic Astrology is that it indicates the possible destiny. An Astrologer who is wedded to his divine knowledge of astrology would not be afraid of the consequences of truth.

The astrologer said “yes” he would answer the question. He calculated a chart for that moment and thought about it a while before exclaiming that the parrot would have a long life. It would not die soon. The King responded “is that so!” and at that moment the King drew a sword from his belt with the intention of killing the parrot at that moment. As he pulled out the sword he cut his thumb which began to bleed. As soon as he started bleeding he let go of the parrot which immediately flew away.

The King exclaimed “you are a good astrologer!” But this had been only a test and the King asked the astrologer to return the following day. The following day the King met with the astrologer in private and informed him that he was planning to conquer Cochin. He wanted to know what the outcome of such a battle would be.

The astrologer calculated a chart for the moment again and told the King that he was not going to win the battle. Such a statement was a great risk for any astrologer in those times – the King could have had his head for such a negative prediction. But the King only had the man taken to jail where he was held prisoner.

The battle lasted 15 days and on the final day he was defeated. When the King returned to the village he had the astrologer brought to him. Not only did he let the astrologer go, he honored the man by giving him an abundant amount of land and property. The man no longer needed to worry about his own life, his children’s lives or his grandchildren’s lives because he was given so much land and that family is still known in Kerala.

This is the power of true Vedic Astrology.

These true stories are meant for those people who have interest in astrology, those who are already astrologers and for those who are interested in making Vedic Astrology as their profession.

We are all made to fly!!..

In olden days, a king who was fond of hunting birds received a gift of two magnificent falcons from another king. They were peregrine falcons, the most beautiful birds he had ever seen. He gave the precious birds to his head falconer to be trained.

Months passed and one day the head falconer informed the king that though one of the falcons was flying majestically, soaring high in the sky. But, the other bird had not moved from the single branch of a dried up tree since the day it had arrived.

The king summoned experts from all the land to tend to the falcon, but no one could make the bird fly from its perch. Having tried everything else, the king thought to himself, “May be I need someone more familiar with the countryside to understand the nature of this problem.” So he cried out to his court, “Go and get a farmer.”

In the morning, the king was thrilled to see the falcon soaring high above the palace gardens.

The king asked the farmer “How did you make the falcon fly?”

With a bow, he replied “I cut the branch which this falcon had come to like and preferred sitting on it, rather than fly. Moreso, as he was getting good food to eat and fresh water to drink through courtesy of the royal attendants.”

We are all made to fly — to realize our incredible potential as human beings. But instead of doing that, we sit on our branches, clinging to the things that are easier or become familiar to us. The possibilities are endless, but for most of us, they remain undiscovered. We conform to the familiar, the comfortable, the mundane. So for the most part, our lives are mediocre instead of exciting, thrilling and fulfilling.

So let us learn to destroy the branch of fear we cling to and free ourselves to the glory of flight.

Self-Appraisal

A little boy went to a telephone booth which was at the cash counter of a store and dialled a number.
The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation:

Boy: “Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?

Woman: (at the other end of the phone line) “I already have someone to cut my lawn.”

Boy: “Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price than the person who cuts your lawn now.”

Woman: I’m very satisfied with the person who is  presently cutting my lawn.

Boy: (with more perseverance) “Lady, I’ll even sweep the floor  and the stairs of your house for free.

Woman: No, thank you.

With a smile on his face, the little boy replaced the receiver. The store-owner, who was listening to all this, walked over to the boy.

Store Owner: “Son… I like your attitude; I like that positive spirit and would like to offer you a job.”

Boy: “No thanks.

Store Owner:  But you were really pleading for one.

Boy: No Sir, I was just checking my performance at the job I already have. I am the one who is working for that lady I was talking to!”

Can anyone predict the future?

The answer is both “yes” and “no.” No one can absolutely predict either your future or the future. Too many energies constantly shift and change and influence the future for anyone to predict what is going to happen at a fixed point in the future. However, it is possible to read the energies and energy patterns that are in place right now, those that at this moment in time are creating a “probable” future, and determine what might happen in the future if absolutely nothing changed between now and then. This is the best anyone can do, and while “predicting the future” is not really possible, it can be very beneficial to you to learn what your probable future is because knowing what your probable future is allows you the opportunity to exert the influence of your free will and conscious mind upon that future in order to change it more to your liking…..

Thumbs and Secrets

There are many things to look for when studying the thumb, which is certainly one of the most important indicators on the hand. One must note whether the thumb’s tip is square, rounded or pointed, thus indicating a bias toward a practical, artistic or idealistic nature.

Stiff thumb – that is, one that is fairly rigid and inflexible so the tip will not bend backward to any noticeable degree – indicates that the person is stubborn, has fixed ideas, does not easily adapt to changing circumstances, derives more satisfaction from saving money than from spending it and does not tend to be naturally generous.

Flexible thumb is found when the nail phalange bends back without resistance. It indicates a generous-natured person who enjoys giving or spending and is versatile, adaptable, restless, changeable, tolerant, flexible, interested in many things and willing to listen to new ideas.

Large thumb indicates strength, achievement, capability, self-reliance, confidence and inner power. It belongs to a person who can be a leader, a doer. A large thumb adds its strength to other factors in the hand.

Small thumb indicates a weak character – one who will follow rather than lead. There is little determination or will to win so this person is easily defeated. A small thumb weakens good qualities elsewhere on the hand.

Medium thumb is the average, neither large nor small, so it endows its owner with the potential to achieve an average degree of success.
